According to one of the writers of “Saw VII”, the series will take its’ final bow this Halloween. Patrick Melton was a guest on Demon Radio FM, where he revealed the franchise was ending at lucky number seven. The “Saw” series was originally slated to extend to at least eight films; plans changed when “Saw VI” was battered at the box office by “Paranormal Activity” and barely took home $30 million at the American box office. “Saw VII: Endgame” will be released in 3D on October 22, 2010.
According to Deadline.com, Summit Entertainment is considering splitting the final “Twilight” novel into two separate films. While nothing has officially been announced, it would be a sound financial move to stretch out “Breaking Dawn”, especially in view of the $1 billion the “Twilight” franchise has raked in worldwide. An official decision is expected sometime next week, with the “Breaking Dawn” halves to be filmed back to back and released six months apart.
Several sites on the Internet are reporting that Universal is keen to find out if the mechanical shark still works. A source inside Universal claims the studio is considering rebooting the “Jaws” franchise and giving it the 3D treatment. The series has been hibernating since 1987, when the fourth entry tanked at the box office and was voted one of the worst films ever made. With remakes and reboots being the current craze in Hollywood, it’s plausible that “Jaws” is the next franchise to be dusted off and shipped to the multiplexes.
