It's been far over a decade, but the wait is over. This December, Walt Disney Pictures will debut "Tron Legacy" in IMAX and 3D at movie theater across the globe. Not bad, since the original barely dented the box office with only a $33 million take.

A weeks before the first theatrical trailer was to debut before "Alice", a viral marketing campaign was being waged online. A binary clock counted down, while by scrolling down lower and clicking on "Flynn Lives", the site briefly catched the viewer up with the events in the "Tron" universe. Apparently, renegade programmer Kevin Flynn has vanished--presumambly into cyberspace. The evil corporation he used to work for, Encom, has issued strong denials about his whereabouts. However, hackers from archaic Usenet users to modern day Internet trollers believe Flynn is alive and fighting the corporate system. But Flynn'll need a lot more help--namely the son he hasn't seen in twenty years.

There was also major cities around the globe hosting a mysterious event early on a Saturday morning. This turned out to be a one time showing of the trailer, as well as studio interns handing oit blact t-shirts bearing the words "Flynn Lives" and some theatrical posters to underwhelmed fans, who were hoping for a spectacle more on the realm of the "Avatar" debut.

But not at the studio attendees were mere interns. "Tron" Director Steven Lisberger mention the film would be getting the blu-ray treatment come the first week of December. The 1982 film will be extensively color corrected, as well as the rotoscoping effects being fixed to match with what the director envision decades ago. Expect more special featues than what was on the 2000 two disc dvd release, although details are sketchy as of now.

Walt Disney theme parks will be getting into the swing of things. The famous monorail will be covered with a thin plastic cling to simulate a Tron cycle traveling a full speed. There will also be extensive advertisements for the film at Disney parks.

The 2003 "Tron 2.0" is not expected to be reissued, as the XBOX game is not truly considered part of the canon However, the game can be bought second hand at game retailers. But fans can console themselves with a "Tron Legacy" tenatively set for the first week of December. "Tron Legacy" is set for wide release December 17, 2010.
